Ozone gets a bad wrap. With all the media hype about the “dangers of ozone,” you might be hesitant to hear that INTEK rents ozone machines for air purification.
But ozone isn’t all bad. In fact, as a natural part of our atmosphere, it’s actually healthy–in controlled quantities.
Benefits of Ozone Air Purifiers
Ozone air purifiers help improve the quality of the air in your home. How? By producing negative ions that eliminate dust, and by producing activated oxygen (or ozone) that eliminates odors and pollutants.
In addition to generating fresher air, ozone air purifiers help to alleviate many health problems, including:
- Respiratory issues
- Sleeping problems
- Hay fever
An ozone machine can help give your home a clean feel and a fresh scent. However, in large quantities, it can contribute to some negative health effects.
That’s why we recommend renting, rather than purchasing, an ozone air purifier. You’ll be able to reap all the refreshing benefits of an ozone treatment for your home–without exposing your family to risk.
What About Hydroxl Generators?
If you’ve been researching odor removal solutions, you might have stumbled across something called hydroxl. This new solution uses ultraviolet light to treat the air, and it’s especially effective in high-humidity environments.
While hydroxl has its own benefits, most experts agree that it’s not up to ozone’s standards. Ozone has a longer lifespan and a greater reach than hydroxl, so it’s both more efficient and more thorough at removing odors.
According to Kent Berg, the director of the National Institute of Decontamination Specialists (NIDS):
Hydoxyl generators are new, and the technology has not yet produced an efficient machine that can compete head-to-head with ozone. . . . People who don’t like hydroxyls have issue with how slow they are, the limited treatment areas, and the expense.
So if you’re looking for an odor treatment that’ll give you more bang for your buck, you’re best off going with an ozone air purifier.
